For ISTD 2020, I chose the brief of Migration, which encouraged the exploration of wider definitions of the word and asked for a celebration of the theme of Migration.
I chose to show the migration of humanity to space, an event that is speculative and almost fictional. Humanity’s migration to space is driven by many reasons, but one of the most prominent is that we need to escape Earth before we destroy it and ourselves with it. I chose to style by book based on this urgency, giving the reader a sense of movement and anxiety through the type and layouts.
The final book was hardback, screw-bound, A3 size, and printed on a range of Colorplan papers. I used different colours of paper and screws to show the journey from the Earth, to the Moon, and on to Mars.
